Twin Falls Chiropractor Dr. Alan Fox

Confessions of a Chiropractor:
Says Dr. Fox "I NEVER CURED OR HEALED ANYONE IN TWENTY-NINE YEARS OF PRACTICE."

As we look at the laws of healing one thing becomes very clear, the Body is a Self Healing organism. When you observe a simple cut to the hand it is amazing to realize no matter what you do to the body, it will always try to do its best to heal the damaged tissues.

In all the years of helping members (patients) in our practice, we have seen many different conditions improve. This is not because I "cured" the patient. No, the patients  heal since the cause of the condition is removed. We are all blessed with a inherent genetic potential for healing. It is based on the laws of physiology which state the human body always strives of homeostasis. (balance to physiological function) The function of the body is dependent on moving well, eating well and thinking well. As we eliminate inefficiencies and toxicity the body shifts toward homeostasis.

With proper Chiropractic Wellness Care patients improve when interference to Normal Function is Removed.

My Introduction to Chiropractic

I came to understand the importance of health when I was sixteen years old.  My father, a former WWII hero (B 17 Squadron Flight Engineer South Pacific 3 tours of duty), very athletic man, who never had a sick day in his life, slowly began to deteriorate before my family's eyes.

I came home from school one day to find my Dad sitting in a recliner doing his best to look normal but obviously in a great deal of discomfort.  When asked why he was home from work so early his reply was very short "I just thought I would rest awhile."  Of course this was very unusual in that he never missed work from his auto body repair shop.  He was one of those veterans that did not complain, even in the most challenging times.

We eventually found out after several days he was suffering with pain in his entire right side.  The pain was in his shoulder, neck, arm and moved down even to his right hip and leg.  He did his best to hide his pain from all the family but it became more and more apparent that he was suffering and we felt so at a loss of what to do.  He went to the family doctor only to be told to take some pain pills.  At first they helped, but over a period of weeks and months the pain grew worse and now he was on powerful pain medication that upset his stomach and he further became more ill and depressed.

For the first time in my life I witnessed someone who was very ill.  I saw the effects of his illness on his relationship with my mom and how our family began to fall apart.  Doctor after doctor just gave him the same advice; to take more pills.  He eventually went to a very prestigious medical clinic and they told him they could cut the nerves that came from his neck.  The pain would go away but there would be paralysis.  That was something my Dad did not want to do.

My Dad Was Desperate...

He got to a point where he could only sleep for 15 minutes at a time and it was at this weak point when a fellow who worked for him suggested that he see a Doctor of Chiropractic. At the time, mid 1960s, Dad did not know what a D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic) was but he was at the end of his rope and was open to any new option.

He went in for a first visit and Dr. Pangle, a very professional man greeted him in a consultation which was very inspiring to Dad.  He said "Bob, we are going to examine your spine today and see if we can locate the cause of your condition and not merely just treat the effects."  Well, this sounded like music from heaven to dad.  In all the doctors he had visited no one mentioned looking to the cause.  As it turned out, after examination and x-rays the chiropractor located a small misalignment (subluxation) in Dad's neck.  The nerves coming from that area had become irritated  This was the source of the problem.

Dad agreed to undergo a series of adjustments over a several month period.  To say a miracle happened would be putting it lightly to Dad.  In less than 90 days, after being sick for over a year, Dad not only received relief but function back in his right side. It was truly amazing for Dad but it was fantastic to me as a 16 year old boy to see such a wonderful change in my family.  I learned that illness effects the entire family unit and I never forgot the experience.

Later I found out personally of the wonderful benefits of chiropractic.  As a former athlete that suffered from many injuries that occurred in participating in contact sports.  I found out that chiropractic was for the whole family and has added years to my life and life to my years!

On a Personal Note...

I am very happy to say I am the proud father of three daughters.  Alana, Autumn and Amber.  They all have grown up under chiropractic care with no complications or effects of medical intervention.  They have been chiropractic babies and were delivered at home with the help of a mid wife and myself.  They are all adult women and living life to the fullest.

My hobbies include continued education in neurology, physiology and Harley Davidson Motorcycles.  In fact I like all motorcycles of any persuasion.  I have a large interest in four wheeling in the mountains and have done so in Moab, Utah many times.  I find a great enjoyment in snow skiing and Sun Valley, Idaho has been a little bit of heaven to me for many years of recreation.  I play the guitar for relaxation and I guess you could say music is a great friend.

I continue to study nature by hiking and photography.  It is amazing to me how ecosystems of all kinds find balance and always triumph over changes that are not apparent to man at first, such as forest fires and flooding.  When you later return years later beauty has replaced the devastation.  Life is good.

Dr. Alan Asks some important questions of interest to Twin Falls residents - Chiropractor Twin Falls Dr. Alan Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
Where do most Twin Falls residents get their first subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every Twin Falls newborn.
